One hundred female beneficiaries have been trained and equipped with techniques in smart-climate agriculture for sustainable farming and an enhanced livelihood.

The non-governmental organization International Centre for Environmental Health and Development (ICEHD) initiated a program led by the Programme Manager, Miss Mercy, to facilitate women’s empowerment through smart-climate farming.

The smart-climate agriculture program exposed the women to eco-friendly techniques, climate-smart farming skills, farming resources, and opportunities to address climate change in agriculture.

According to Miss Mercy, women in Nigeria feel less excluded regarding socioeconomic topics due to cultural differences and economic barriers. The program, dubbed under the theme “Climate Justice and Economic Resilience Project for Rural Women Farmers in Nigeria,” will help to transform and change the status quo of the Nigerian woman in rural areas.

Miss Mercy made it known this is the second year of the program, and this time around, they are in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture, Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources to make this project a successful and also extend the help to more women in Nigeria.
