In a statement, the Feed Industry Practitioner Association of Nigeria (FIPAN) calls on Nigerians to embrace the hardship ahead.
While many farmers are pulling out of the poultry farm business in Nigeria due to the high price of maize to feed their birds, the situation is getting out of hand. FIPAN, in a statement, has warned there would be a scarcity of eggs, chicken, and other livestock products.
Putting much of the weight of the situation on governmental policies, which have had so much impact on farming activities in Nigeria, FIPAN stated that Nigeria will soon import chicken and livestock products to meet demand.
Nigeria’s GDP is gradually declining. Currently, the country is short of 18.5 metric tonnes of grains to meet demand, but there’s a shortage as domestic production stands at 1.7 metric tonnes of soya.
