Registration Begins for Planting for Foods and Jobs Phase II

The Minister for Foods and Agriculture (MoFA), Dr. Bryan Acheampong, announced that registration for the Planting for Foods and Jobs Phase II (PFJ 2.0) program will start today, Tuesday, March 12.

Farmers from all 16 regions and 261 districts in Ghana can sign up for this program. To make the registration process easier, the government has created a special mobile and web application called the Ghana Agriculture and Agribusiness Platform (GhAAP).

How to Register

Agricultural Extension Agents (AEAs) and other experts have been trained to use the GhAAP platform and given tablets to help farmers register. To participate in the PFJ 2.0 program, farmers or producers must meet certain requirements:

  1. Have access to land or a farm
  2. Be a Ghanaian citizen with a valid Ghana card
  3. Grow certain crops that are part of the program
  4. Be a legally registered company or institution (if not an individual farmer)

When registering, farmers will need to provide the coordinates (location) of their farm or land.

Building on Success

According to Dr. Acheampong, the PFJ 2.0 program is designed to build on the successes of the first Planting for Foods and Jobs program, while also fixing any issues or limitations it had.

The goal of the program is to help Ghanaian farmers produce more food, which is important for the country’s food supply and economy. By registering, farmers can get access to resources and support to help them grow more crops.
