Tractor protection valves are often positioned at the back of the cab. In the case of a trailer breakaway or significant air leak, it is their responsibility to safeguard the tractor air brake system. Before disconnecting the cables, they are also utilized to turn off the air supply to the trailer.

What does it mean if the red valve is pulled out?
The red valve on the dash pulls out in the case of a loss of tractor air pressure, cutting off air flow from the tractor to the trailer. This will lock up all of the trailer’s wheels at once and automatically activate the sprung brakes on the trailer.
