Egg or chicken first?
The egg is the first item that a chicken produces. It’s little, white, and velvety. It doesn’t have a shell and lives in a little sac called an oviduct. When a hen is prepared to lay an egg, she stands up and squats down on a perch. Her body presses against her reproductive organ (the cloaca), pushing the egg into the air. The egg is then placed in a little straw or hay nest, where it will remain until it hatches into a chick.
Where do eggs come from? Eggs come from chickens and chickens come from eggs. The question of whether the chicken or the chicken eggs came first has remained a mystery.

Formation of Chicken Eggs
Apparently, every bird requires these five organs. The ovaries and oviduct are where a new egg is formed. During embryonic development.
The two sets of ovaries and oviducts are present, but only the left set fully matures in chickens.
At any given time, the mature ovary will have many follicles in various stages of development. The follicle with the biggest size is the one that will be ovulated to generate an egg. The ovary will generally produce one developed yolk within 24-26 hours.
At the time of ovulation, the follicular membrane ruptures, and the follicle is released. About 30 minutes after oviposition, this happens.
1. Infundibulum
The yolk is received by the Infundibulum, followed by the chalazae and perivitelline membrane formation. Aided by enzyme secretions. Fertilization will occur in the presence of sperm. Unlike commercial layer birds, this is a common occurrence in breeder stock.
2. Magnum
When the yolk is in the magnum, the albumen, or egg white protein, is deposited. The magnum is the longest section of the oviduct, and it will take the yolk two to three hours to transit through it.
3. Isthmus
It enters the isthmus from the magnum, where the inner and outer shell membranes are established. It takes about an hour and a half to two hours to finish this operation.
4. Uterus
Following the development of the inner membrane. It subsequently enters the uterus, also known as the shell gland, and stays close to twenty-one hours there. During this time, the albumen undergoes a process in which it absorbs electrolytes and water. The shell gland also produces the shell, which is composed of 95 percent calcium carbonate and 5% organic material.
5. Vagina
After spending close to twenty-one hours in the uterus oviposition is ready to take place. A hormonal contraction is induced by the uterus for the new egg to pass through the vagina and exit via the cloaca.
