A single mother who dropped out of nursing training college discloses how she makes GH¢1,000 profit from cassava processing.
Priscilla Agabilla, a single mother from Techiman, Bono East Region, Ghana, has chosen to go beyond the bars of poverty to care for her family and return to school to complete her nursing training.
According to GraphicGh, Priscilla dropped out of the Mampong Nursing Training College after her son got seriously ill. She had no other support than to put her nursing training on hold and find a source of income to better situations at home.
She decided to venture into Gari processing, where she got the support of Rev. Kyei Mensah. Rev. Kyei has been an advocate and an instrumentalist in transforming lives through agriculture, especially, Agribusiness related to cassava.

Challenges in gari processing
There is nothing like an easy job; despite the good side of the gari processing business, Priscilla shared she encounters challenges in transportation.
Price of gari olonka in Ghana
An “olonka,” which weighed around 1.5 kilograms, sold for GH 22, while a bucket, which weighed between 70 and 120 kilograms, went for GH 220.
Priscilla aims to expand her gari business to employ more youth in her area in the coming years.
