The National Cattlemen’s Foundation commemorates the late W.D. Farr of Greeley, Colorado, with two yearly $15,000 graduate scholarships in his name. Farr, a third-generation Coloradan pioneer rancher, statesman, and banker, was noted for his exceptional vision. His commitment to enhancing agriculture, cattle, and water development resulted in substantial advancements in farming methods that have inspired ranchers and farmers across the country.
Two $15,000 grants are given to graduate students who have excelled in academics and leadership and are dedicated to promoting the cattle business. Scholarship recipients understand that the program benefits their work and the entire industry.
2023 WD Farr Scholarship Eligibility
- For the 2023-2024 academic year, the applicant must be enrolled as a graduate student in a Master’s or Ph.D. program at a recognized institution of higher learning.
- Through studies, internships, or life experience, the applicant must demonstrate a commitment to a career in the cattle industry.
How To Apply For WD Farr Scholarship
- Students must apply online by Sept. 22, including a cover letter, curriculum vitae, description of the applicant’s aims and experience, a brief essay, and a statement of belief in the industry.
- A review of the applicant’s doctoral research and three letters of recommendation.
- The scholarship honorees for 2023 will be honored at CattleCon 2024, which will be held in Orlando from January 31 to February 2.
